Spanking party in Sydney

Posted at 05:43 on 6 Dec 2015 by Pandora / Blake

Have I really only been in Australia two and a half weeks? It feels like much longer. Although I've squeezed a lot in, the primary mood of my trip so far has still been restful - it feels like most of my time has been spent relaxing in Helena's beautiful home, hanging out with friends, occasionally doing a spanking session. The relaxed pace and the good weather have combined to give the days a holidayish feel, even when I'm technically working. I've met some lovely Aussie spanking enthusiasts, played some super hot scenes, and earned some $ to pay my way. The rest of the time, I've been able to read, do colouring, go to the beach, get the tram into town, enjoy Helena's amazing cooking, and only occasionally open my netbook to check emails and internet things. I wish my life in London could be this relaxed.

I spent a portion of last week in Sydney for the Perv Queererotic Film Festival. I was excited about being asked to judge the Short Film Competition, and devastated when airline drama made me miss it: my Jetstar flight was cancelled, and I spent the next five hours in Melbourne airport being shunted around different flights before I was finally allowed to board, two hours after the film competition had started. It was a total clusterfuck, and a learning experience to never fly Jetstar again I guess. So it was Friday night when I finally made it to Perv for the second film screening.

Perv takes place in Marrickville, at a venue called the Red Rattler Theatre, which is owned and operated by the community and staffed by volunteers. It's a great space, with a large downstairs room and a smaller mezzanine lounge, delightfully furnished with a mismatched collection of plush velvet armchairs and sofas. I've never watched porn on the big screen while nestled into a comfy wingback armchair before, and it definitely enhanced the experience.

Solos with Yanks and Michelle Flynn

Posted at 10:17 on 9 Dec 2015 by Pandora / Blake

One of the first things I did when I arrived in Australia was hang out with Michelle Flynn, the owner of LightSouthern whose work I discovered at the Berlin Porn Film Festival 2014. Her films are sundrenched and distinctively Australian, featuring stunning videography, hot queer and straight sex, real couples and real orgasms. Michelle emphasises consent and good communication with performers, and her films have a relaxed, comfortable vibe. I liked Liandra Love, a moody triptych studing the face and body of her partner-at-the-time Liandra as she brings herself to an orgasmic emotional release, and Momentum volume 1, a sunny celebration of natural bodies, friendship, love and hardcore fucking in natural settings.

Michelle and I had been emailing back and forth about the possibility of shooting together, and I found myself regretful that I'm not currently able to produce for Dreams of Spanking, as I'd have loved to hire her as camera for a sexy Australian spanking film. But we did make plans to work together with Aeryn Walker, my favourite geek girl, cosplay pornstair and brainiac. That shoot is coming up next week, so I won't say any more for now. But in the meantime, I can share some previews of the solo scenes Michelle and I shot together for Yanks on my third day in Melbourne.

Perv Queerotic Film Festival; or, the hazards of borrowing canes in Sydney

Posted at 10:55 on 10 Dec 2015 by Pandora / Blake

On my first visit to Sydney I accidentally rented accommodation in one of the fanciest parts of town. I hadn't realised how expensive the area was until I started telling Sydneysiders where I was staying, and they would raise eyebrows at me as if I had said something snobbish. It wasn't deliberate - I just had Headmistress bookings on the Saturday, and I had booked somewhere that looked the part; old wooden furniture and art on the walls. I enjoyed staying there, even if it was a bit of a mission to get back to after midnight, when the Perv screenings and parties were over. It was fun pretending to be someone else for a while - someone with lots of money and an immaculately decorated home.

Sydney gave me a warm welcome. Once I'd recovered from the stress of my cancelled flight and missing the Perv short film competition, I was immediately cushioned in the hospitable bosom of the Sydney kink scene. Penelope Dreadful met me at the station after my first booking and took me out for delicious Vietnamese food (which rapidly became a fixture of my Sydney experience). We'd chatted on Facebook after she offered to lend me a cane (I couldn't fit one in my luggage); I didn't need to take her up on it, but it was a pleasure to meet her. We talked and laughed over pho, and swapped stories of working as a BDSM provider in different cities. I love that sex work gives me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people - and sex workers are the best people. I feel like sex workers are like this global family, and I have the potential for a community of likeminded humans wherever I go. It's pretty amazing.

I enjoyed the Perv film screenings on Friday night - particularly Airport by Manuela Kay, a dyke classic - in fact it was the first ever German lesbian porno, a funny and sexy all-girl gangbang set in the public bathrooms of an airport. The film quality is like a bad rip of a VHS tape, but the performances and the editing are so on point that it doesn't matter in the slightest. Shutter by Goodyn Green is a present-day snapshot of the lesbian scene in Berlin, a diverse collection of queer sex beautifully shot in radiant natural light.

I criticised the porn laws - and was targeted for censorship.

Posted at 02:08 on 17 Dec 2015 by Pandora / Blake

Last November my friend Nimue Allen and I got together with our partners for a week to shoot some porn. We’ve both worked in the BDSM porn industry for years as performers and producers, and we were ready to delve deeper. We spent three days shooting a feature-length explicit documentary about our queer, kinky, polyamorous sex lives. We filmed interviews, video portraits, narrative sequences and hardcore sex scenes, capturing the intimacy and affection of BDSM play between people who love each other. The scenes were spontaneous and unscripted, a natural representation of the sex we have in private, and in the natural course of events they ended up including facesitting, fisting, squirting, caning, needles, breath play, dominance and submission and plenty of hardcore sex. It was authentic, caring and beautiful.

A week later, full of happy excitement about our new project, we learned that every scene we had filmed had just been criminalised under new UK porn laws. It would now be illegal for us to publish any of them. These honest depictions of our sex, pleasure and intimacy had been deemed so extreme that even informed, paying adults couldn’t legally watch them.
