Check out this awesome writeup of my feminist porn workshop in local paper the Hackney Citizen!

I was expecting quite a short piece - maybe something like this listing in Time Out (which coined the delightful phrase "patriarchy pounding pornos") but instead Hackney Citizen lavished 1200 words on the event, and went into quite a lot of detail about the subject matter too. The piece talks about the history of feminist porn, what makes porn feminist, the importance of good working conditions and what to look for behind the scenes, and how kinky sex and satire have a place in feminist porn.

"In this age of culture war, it’s nice to be reminded that the subversion of the patriarchy has an artistic lineage all of its own, and is not just a modern phenomenon."

The article also touches on the legal constraints that penalise niche and feminist producers in the UK. It's fantastic to see the headlines of my talk reproduced in a mainstream London newspaper. It helps these ideas spread beyond the four walls of the people who attended the workshop, and reach others who might be curious or thinking about the important topics of consent, representation and how to be an ethical porn consumer. Thank you Hackney Citizen for the in-depth and sympathetic review!
