Historical porn from the Museu de L'Eròtica

Posted at 23:11 on 1 Jun 2015 by Pandora / Blake

D and I have just got back from a lovely holiday in Barcelona, which is just as beautiful as everyone says it is. While we were there I made certain we had a look round the Museu de L'Eròtica on La Rambla. It's a small museum with an exhibition on sex through the ages, mostly dedicated to historical erotic art. The section on BDSM was disappointingly tiny, but the entry price included a free glass of champagne so I didn't mind too much. I particularly enjoyed the collection of 18th century European (mostly French, Italian and English) erotic art. Forgive the crappy cameraphone photos, but there were some images I just had to share...

I was struck by this drawing of two lovers engaged in acrobatic sex - one for ballet lovers everywhere. I like the way the woman is being lifted off the floor, gravity held at bay merely by the strength of an erect cock and one dainty hand. But most of all I'm intrigued by the feminine appearance of her lover. I don't think the concept of a trans woman (which was my first instinctive interpretation) existed in the same way back then, but there were definitely some gender-benders - is this intended to depict a male cross-dresser or drag queen, I wonder? Or is this sort of feminine appearance perfectly standard for a male ballet dancer of the time?

Hyperkinks: ATVOD anti-porn law edition

Posted at 16:33 on 3 Dec 2014 by Pandora / Blake

Art by Judi Thomas ArtSince my post yesterday about the new anti-porn law, there's been a hell of a lot of online media coverage. Please read, share, and help however you can. Let's keep the conversation going.

The Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014 - link to the actual legislation, which you should read if you are unsure exactly what sort of content has been banned.

Split bloomers and enormous hats

Posted at 14:12 on 4 Mar 2012 by Pandora / Blake

I love these illustrations from an old printing of a French erotic memoir, Au Rouge Vif: anecdotes intimes sur la flagellation. The clothes are marvellous (split bloomers! and look at that hat!), the poses are dynamic and I love the dual punishment image.

Bear Ass

Posted at 20:20 on 20 Oct 2010 by Pandora / Blake

I've written before about the real ale pump labels by ex-spanking model and erotic artist Lynn Paula Russell. Her recent work is well worth a look - I love the nature-based erotic pieces she's been producing lately:

But apparently, Ms Russell isn't the only kinky artist commissioned to create a beer pump label. Check out this naughty design from Beartown Brewery:

(Mine isn't bare at the moment though - it's far too cold. Brr! Maybe if it was covered in a lovely thick coating of warm bear fur...)

New photographer

Posted at 21:06 on 1 Sep 2010 by Pandora / Blake

I'm in discussions with a new photographer about working together for my work-in-progress spanking site. I've got some ideas for photo galleries which draw on the aesthetics of high fashion, classical art, and modern grunge style to create some iconic punishment and D/s imagery, and I've been looking for the photographer to realise them.

I'm toying with the idea of moving away from the inevitable film + stills format. As someone who's worked in both photo modelling and film acting, it seems to me that taking stills distracts from the energy of a good film shoot - and if you want to focus on gorgeous stills, your priorities are very different from when you're filming. If you're doing them well, stills and film each need different lighting setups, different mentalities from actors and camera technicians. Although both film and a photogallery for each scenario is expected, I'm not sure it's necessary. As a viewer, I'd be perfectly happy with screencaps and a dozen nice promo images to accompany a spanking film - a few sites do this already, and don't seem to suffer for it. If I've watched the film, I don't need to click through 100+ photos as well. As far as I'm concerned, photos accompanying a film are mostly for promotion and sharing. I'd rather have a smaller number of high-quality photo galleries which visually stand out, than endless photostories tacked onto films which replicate the same scenario. I don't know if I'm alone on this one, but either way, as someone who's come to spanking porn via the art nude and fetish fashion modelling industry, I have a clear idea of the visuals I'm looking for in photographic erotica - and high standards.

All three of the photographers I've worked with so far have been excellent, and I intend to use them again. But I'm all about variety, and ideally I'd like a stable of photographers with different styles and strengths, so I can pick and choose the best photographer to suit each project. Oh, and while I'm at it, a pony wouldn't go amiss either ;)

I love Daniel's work, and am thrilled that he's interested. He's not photographed spanking stories before, but he's no stranger to the kink scene and I think his style could work really well with my ideas. I'm aiming to book a shoot sometime in the next couple of months (I need to save up first!) to see how we work together. I'm looking forward to working with him - and I'll let you know how it goes!

ex libris

Posted at 11:00 on 17 Jun 2010 by Pandora / Blake

Well, my hope that writing a first entry after my hiatus would "break the seal" was clearly unfounded. The good news is that as well as keeping up with work, I've also finally started getting stuck in to our personal unpacking and sorting out our new house. There are various hurdles still impeding progress, but we're gradually getting there.

One of the hurdles is a lack of bookcases. Frustatingly, I do actually own enough bookcases for all my books, but the ceilings in the new place are much lower than in my previous flat, and so the tallest ones no longer fit. Add to that Tom's book collection, which he doesn't have enough bookcases for either, and we're a bit stuck. We're going to make some to size, but that means we can't unpack our books until we've had time to do the DIY. And as any fellow book-lover will understand, the place just doesn't feel mine until I've unpacked all my books.

The good thing about the wait is it'll give me time to print some "ex libris" stamps or labels, so our book collections can be combined and organised alphabetically without getting mixed up for all time. Not that I'm expecting to have to separate them any time soon, but you know, they're my books. It's the principle of the thing.

All of which is as good an excuse as any to post this startlingly hot birching picture:

Thanks to my friend J for sending it to me. A bibliophile after my own heart. <3

Heather Heart - Hitwoman

Posted at 23:11 on 8 Mar 2010 by Pandora / Blake

I've just discovered a totally cool new concept site: Heather Heart - Hitwoman.

In the year 2061, in a post-apocalyptic world; one woman holds the key to all of mankind's future.

Her mission - to rid the world of evil, once and for all - any way she can!

Found as an orphan by a group of rebel super soldiers, she was trained in all forms of combat from a very early age. She has a vast arsenal of weapons at her disposal; her beauty being the most potent one. And with the 'heart detector' (a computer chip that gives her the actual ability to judge people as good or evil with 100% accuracy) implanted into her mind, Heather sets about making the world a safer place for the sensitive and the good - by terminating the wicked.

Basically, a couple of fetish models put together and came up with this awesome sci-fi/thriller story site. It's based on the classic era of cult comic books. The site includes movies, hand-crafted comic books based on real-person photography, photosets and original artworks. No sex, no spanking, just exciting adventures in shiny rubber outfits. With guns.

This is a science fiction, fantasy themed site. There is no nudity or sex, but there are hints of sexiness and fetishism (boot licking, glove smothering, ball kicking, girls and guns etc), on the site.

How cool is that? It makes me happy that story-based sites are gaining in popularity outside the spanking market, as well as within it.

the psychology of domination

Posted at 14:46 on 10 Jul 2009 by Pandora / Blake

From this month's issue of Filthy Gorgeous Things, which is promisingly entitled Force, and focusses on BDSM, rough sex, dirty girls and iron cocks - and, as ever, beautiful writing, photography, art and design. Go, admire, allow yourself to be teased until you're hot and bothered and ready to surrender.

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Posted at 19:10 on 27 May 2009 by Pandora / Blake

J sent me this artwork the other day. Sometimes I wonder if our entire friendship is founded on sharing select pieces of porn; he certainly has a good eye for what I'll like. I love her harem pants, her slutty toenail polish, and especially I love the little mouse.

My question is: is she wielding that cane herself - or carrying it to the magician to whom she's apprenticed, to be used on her own supple, sulky self?

filthy gorgeous things

Posted at 16:49 on 19 May 2009 by Pandora / Blake

Well, I'm back.

BoundCon was difficult and tiring and amazing by turns, and I have about 5000 words of personal journal on my netbook about it, which I will sort through and turn into something postable when I get time.

This week is all about the kink, but I don't have much time for writing. Yesterday I got home from the con and spent hours telling Tom all about it, showing him my photos and the new toys I bought. Then we sat down and watched the working edits of the first two films we made with Roue (one in 2006, one last year), which neither of us had seen before. Today and tomorrow I'm working flat out on last minute preparations for the shoot, Adele arrives on Wednesday night and we're spending the next two days in 1911.

Then this weekend we've been invited to a kinky party, where we intend to spend time with lots of lovely people and try out the new toys I bought at BoundCon. We may be exhausted after the shoot but after two days in character we'll both be raring to play as ourselves. Play is like buses: you can wait for weeks without a spanking, and then lots come along at once. Anyway, by next week I should be even tireder, covered in pretty marks, and with many many stories to tell you all, but I can't promise I'll find time to write much before then.

In the meantime, I want to recommend a beautiful new website: F/lthy Gorgeous Th/ngs. It's a new artporn/postmodern porn magazine created by Kasia Xavier and debauchette. Its first edition launched today, and is available for free; future issues will work on a subscription model.

Kasia calls it "haute porn with a heart". debauchette writes:

Our interest was in creating a space for expression thats too explicit for mainstream media channels and too experimental/creative/beautiful/challenging for the adult industry. Our thinking was that if we built a space for it, then maybe wed see more inspiring sexual content in the future, the sort of content that turns us on, makes us think, and leaves an indelible impression. Or to use Kasias words, to house a space that gives permission. To publish kinky shit, beautiful cunts, dirty thoughts and unspeakable fantasies.

The first issue is beautiful. Combining photography, articles, stories, poetry and video, it presents an evocative, arousing, intelligent meditation on the theme "voyeur". The site design is elegant, coherent and visually rich, although somewhat inaccessible if your browser/OS doesn't support Flash.

It won't please everyone. I don't like all of it: some of the content (like Chip Willis' "Strip Noir" video) is a bit self-consciously 'arty' for my tastes; some of it strikes me as the politically uncomfortable kind of objectifying more than the kinky fun kind, although heaven knows there's hardly a clear dividing line. But for the most part it is beautiful, intellectual, fascinating and hot. I was already a fan of the creators, so it's not surprising that I loved The Client Voyeur by debauchette and Throatfucking by Kasia, both ridiculously erotic pieces of writing. If photography is more your thing, I recommend Nude Interlude: Katie by Seyma Bayram: a shiveringly delicate study in sunlit skin which makes you feel like you're in the same room as the model, comfortably naked together, enjoying each others warmth. I also keep coming back to look at Beholder, Beheld by Cynthia Cortes, a self-portrait series pulsing with tension.

Apart from this endearingly playful photo by Mofo, there's not much in the way of spanking in Voyeur, but given the kinkiness of its creators I wouldn't be surprised to see our favourite topic in future issues of FGT. (Hey, they're looking for contributors; maybe I'll submit something myself.) Anyway, go, feast your eyes and your brain on this celebration of stylish hedonism while it's still free, and tell your friends.
